CONTROL OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASES

 

Communicable diseases in Slovenia are systematically monitored in accordance with national and foreign legislation through the epidemic intelligence system. In Slovenia, this field is regulated by the Contagious Diseases Act.

 

The Ministry is responsible for action and the coordination of activities in case of outbreaks according to procedures known and agreed in advance. The activities are intended to identify the main threats constituted by communicable diseases. An epidemic intelligence system has been established. Communicable diseases are systematically monitored in accordance with national and foreign legislation.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has a key role in coordinating epidemic control at the European level. The anticipated actions include medical and non-medical counter-measures and close cooperation between national authorities, the European Union and World Health Organisation.
