These meetings provide a forum for senior regulators within the competent authorities for medical devices to discuss issues of mutual concern regarding the implementation and application of medical devices legislation, ensuring the effective use of national resources at a European level and dealing effectively with strategic issues. The CA meeting is composed of senior regulators of the EU Member States, EEA/EFTA member states, representatives from the accession countries and the European Commission, who meet twice a year.

The 21st Meeting of Competent Authorities for Medical Devices will take place from 25-26 February 2008 in Brdo and will mainly focus on implementation of the revised European Directives on Medical Devices. Special attention will be given to current and future legislative issues and to the interface of the Medical Devices Directives with other legislation. The meeting will also deal with Counterfeiting and Parallel Trade of Medical Devices, and one session will be devoted to Medical Device Innovation. Regular topics such as International Cooperation, Borderline Issues, reports of working groups and other competent authorities topics will also be discussed.
